How an Airport Hotel is a Blessing in San Francisco

It’s interesting how travel experiences can change from year to year. There are many factors that can influence the way we travel, such as personal circumstances, budget, and destination.

For example, you may have traveled with a group of friends one year and then solo the next. Or you may have visited a beach destination one year and then a city the next.

For me, now I’m at the point in life where travel experience turns out to not only personal enjoyment but overlapping between MICE/Work travel and leisure travel as ‘Travel is my business’ literally and metaphorically – and I can’t leave that city without exploring something new in that destination.

How have your travel experiences changed for you over the years? Email or DM on Instagram.

Well, as I combine business and pleasure by taking time to explore the destination I am visiting for work, — I prefer to choose a specific type of accommodation or hotel options based on the primary purpose of the trip, and — where I found that Airport hotels are a blessing to have a convenient stay without worrying about that last-mile commute, rent a car or ride the bus.

Many people think Airport hotels have more like ‘corporate style buildings or interiors’; however, they can be for various purposes, such as vacation, adventure, or relaxation. It is usually planned and booked by individuals or families, too.

Yes, so airport hotels can be very convenient for travelers who have late flights or who need to stay near the airport for an early flight the next day. They can also be a good option for travelers who want to rest and relax before continuing their journey. Many airport hotels offer shuttle service to and from the airport, making it easy for travelers to get to and from the terminal.

When you’re traveling and arrive at your destination late at night, the last thing you want to do is search for a hotel room. That’s where airport hotels come in – they provide a convenient and comfortable place to rest, and some hotels are right at the airport. Whether you have a late flight or an early one the next day, these hotels are a blessing for travelers looking for a stress-free trip or arrival.”

I made a reservation at a hotel and used a combination of points and cash to pay for my room through the Marriott Bonvoy account. My room was on a high floor with mountains, trees, and airport views – if the view matters to you.

The points + cash option allows you to redeem a certain number of Marriott Bonvoy points for part of your hotel stay and pay for the remaining balance with cash. This can be a good option if you don’t have enough points to redeem for your entire stay or if you want to stretch your points further.

To ensure that your reservation is correctly recorded and to confirm the details of your stay, it is always a good idea to check with the hotel directly prior to arrival. You can do this by calling the hotel’s front desk or by contacting them through the Marriott Bonvoy website or app. This way, you can confirm that your reservation is in place and that your room assignment is correct.

I was a bit concerned about using public transportation in San Francisco and was looking for ways to minimize costs while still getting around safely. The conference and a few places that I was visiting were in the Bay area, and the only option was using the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system, which can be a cost-effective way to travel around the city. However, I still needed to take a car ride for the “last mile” of my commute.

Now, let’s talk about undertaking Leisure Travel.

When planning a trip as a business traveler or corporate traveler, there are a few things to consider to make sure you have a successful and enjoyable experience:

Determine your budget: Wheater your company is covering your expense or incurring expenses from your business account, having a clear understanding of how much you are able to spend will help you narrow down your options and find the best value.

Decide on a destination: Think about what type of experience you are looking for and choose a destination that aligns with your interests and preferences.

Research and book your travel arrangements: Once you have a destination in mind, research your transportation and accommodation options and book your travel arrangements.

Plan your activities: Consider what you would like to do and see during your trip and make any necessary reservations or arrangements in advance.

Pack wisely: Make a packing list and only bring what you need to minimize hassle and keep your luggage light.
I hope these tips are helpful for your leisure travel planning!

Here are a few places I visited during my MICE/Work travel in San Francisco:

1. Iconic Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is a must-see attraction for many travelers visiting San Francisco. Here are a few tips for visiting the iconic bridge:

Plan your visit: The Golden Gate Bridge is open to pedestrians and bicycles 24 hours a day, but the visitor center is only open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. You can also take a guided tour of the bridge, which is a great way to learn about its history and construction.

Get there: The Golden Gate Bridge is located about a mile north of the Fisherman’s Wharf area, and there are several ways to get there. You can walk, bike, drive to the bridge, or take public transportation. The San Francisco Bay Ferry and the Golden Gate Transit bus both have stops near the bridge. I took a Uber ride to get to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Take in the views: There are several great vantage points to see the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the best points is Fort Point National Historic Site has the most astonishing view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Be prepared: The weather at the Golden Gate Bridge can be unpredictable, with strong winds and fog common. Be sure to dress in layers and bring a jacket, or scarf, even on sunny days.

2. Marina Green, San Francisco

Marina Green is a beautiful area located in San Francisco, California. It is a large park situated along San Francisco Bay, with breathtaking views of the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the city skyline. There are several ways to enjoy Marina Green while driving in the area:

Take a drive along Marina Boulevard, which runs along the eastern edge of Marina Green. This road offers great views of the park and the Bay. There are plenty of paths and green spaces to explore, as well as benches and picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the view.

Consider taking a detour down Baker Beach, which is located just south of Marina Green. This beautiful beach offers stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and is a great spot for a picnic or a leisurely walk.

If you’re looking for a more active way to enjoy Marina Green, consider renting a bike and exploring the park by bicycle. There are several bike rental shops located in the area, and the park is crisscrossed with bike paths.

Overall, Marina Green is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon, whether you’re driving through or want to spend some time enjoying the park and the views.

3. Lombard Street, San Francisco

Lombard Street is a winding, steep street in San Francisco, California, that is famous for its many sharp turns and picturesque views of the city and the Bay. There are several ways to enjoy the views while driving on Lombard Street.
Take a drive down Lombard Street and experience the winding road firsthand. The street is one-way and has eight sharp turns, making it a fun and unique driving experience.

Park your car at the top of the street and walk down to the bottom. This will allow you to take in the views of the city and the Bay at a leisurely pace and snap some photos along the way.

Consider stopping at one of the many lookout points along the street to take in the views. There are several spots where you can park your car and enjoy the panoramic views of the city and the Bay.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can rent a bike and ride down Lombard Street. This is a great way to experience the winding road and take in the views at a slower pace.

These are just a few of the many short-trip destinations in San Francisco. It is possible to visit all three of these destinations in one day, but it may be a bit of a tight schedule. Make sure to plan ahead and allow plenty of time for travel and breaks.

There are many more attractions to see and explore, from parks and museums to food marketplaces. You can tailor your experience to fit your interests and preferences.

If you’re interested in history and culture, you might enjoy visiting one of the city’s many museums, such as the California Palace of the Legion of Honor or the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

If you enjoy outdoor activities, you might consider visiting Golden Gate Park or taking a hike in the Marin Headlands.

If you love food and drink, you’ll find no shortage of great restaurants and bars in the city. The Ferry Building – Food Artisan Marketplace, Pier 39, and Fisherman’s Wharf are all popular destinations for foodies to experience the ‘food and fun’ of San Francisco.

Sounds like you will have a great day exploring the San Francisco Bay Area as I did.
