How to Spend 5 Days in Rome, Italy – Brief Historical Trip

Rome is a city full of love, life, and culture and with a suitable travel plan, you can make the best out of your 5 days in Rome, Italy.

Rome is by far the friendliest city. I love Venice, Florence but too many tourists. South of Rome, I love the best. A heck of a lot to see in Italy as many times as possible without feeling overwhelmed but not many tourists spend more than two days in Rome.

If you were to spend and take a brief historical trip in Rome, how you can spend five days in Rome to get the most out of it and learn more about ancient Rome, history, facts, and culture.

As I was planning my own trip, I wondered about how to travel to Rome and I found that one of the most convenient ways to travel to Rome, as used by many tourists, is to take the train via Milan.

If you’re traveling from North America and landed at Milan Malpensa Airport is the largest international airport in the Milan metropolitan area in northern Italy. It’s located 31 miles (50 km) from Milano Centrale Railway Station.

Day 1 – Start off your first day

Lightly by opting to wander in the cobblestoned streets or relaxing in a piazza with an espresso to just take the city in.

Dinner out in the restaurants or grab from local shops can also be a great option for day 1 and any other day that follows since the Italian food, wine, and nightlife are things you absolutely must not miss out on.

On your night out, Rome can be traveled through using the local train just as locals do.

Day 2 – Explore the historical roman sites

Such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican, and Pantheon, it can be both educational and fun for you as well.

The Colosseum is perhaps the most famous spot in Rome famous for the countless bloody gladiator fights that it hosted for the entertainment of the Roman Aristocracy.

You can visit this historical site for only 12EUR per person, followed by visits to other historical and religious sites in Rome.

Day 3 – Visit the Trevi Fountain,

Free of costs. Built above an ancient water source, the Trevi Fountain takes its name from the three streets (tre vie) that intersect at this world-famous fountain.

The fountain, as we know it today, was completed in the 18th century with sculpting from the magnificent travertine stone.

A must-try activity, if you visit the Trevi Fountain, is to work your way through the crowds to toss a coin in (with your right hand, over your left shoulder) for good luck.

The Spanish Steps are a colorful example of Baroque architecture from 18th century Rome and you opt to climb its 136 steps, or simply watch the crowds weave through this popular tourist attraction.
