Top 7 activities in Havana to make your Cuban Experience unforgettable

If you are a travel enthusiast from Canada with the aim to discover Cuba, you will require a visa now. This visa has to be an embassy visa and you have to get it prior to travelling as obtaining “visa on arrival” is not an option. I recently had the opportunity to visit Cuba and it easily became one of the places that will stay in my heart.

Besides the listed activities, exploring street art is a must while in Cuba and I recommend exploring Havana before heading out to another Cuban city.

Listed below are the Cuba Highlights or my recommendations for visiting Cuba:

1. “Casa Particular”

This is the Cuban equivalent of a BnB. If you plan on visiting Cuba, I recommend living amongst the locals at their homestay or what some would call as a “paying guest” and exploring the city.

2. River Walk Havana

While in Havana, start at Old Havana and enjoy the view as you cross the river and then explore the lighthouse before driving through the city in an old American vintage car.

Located in a fertile valley surrounded by unusual mogotes (pincushion limestone hills) in the province of Pinar del Rio, Viñales is a small scenic town. Get familiar with the area during the initial walk and then take your time to explore the valley by hiking, biking or simply by walking around

5. Cave Exploration

The limestone terrain makes Pinar del Rio the ideal area for massive cave formation. Take the time for an excursion solely for the purpose of exploring two or more of these underground caves in Viñales.

6. Mural de la Prehistoria

Mural de la Prehistoria is a massive painting by Leovigildo Gonzalez Morillo on the rocky side of a mountain Mogote Dos Hermanas from the year 1961. Visit the mural and pair it up with activities around the area in the limestone hills or just enjoy the scenic beauty of the fertile valley.

If you are fond of swimmer or just like to morning walks on the beach and spend time by the water, I suggest staying at resort Maria La Gorda. It has the perfect view and access of the rocky beach and blue water. Relax after a busy day of exploration by dipping into the clear blue waters or by just walking along the area.
